Hello everyone! If you re reading this blog to stop your hair fall in just 1-2 days, then bhaai – maaf kijiye! I won t be able to help you with that, infact science will also not be able to give you an answer. But If you genuinely want to stop your hair fall the right way and understand what actually started it, then I am going to be telling you exactly that in this blog. Most people nowadays face hair fall in their early 20 s to mid 30 s and guess what.. About 60% of them don t realise the early signs of hair fall till they start losing hair on the top of their head and see a receding hairline. Now.. How do you know when you should do something when you notice hair fall? First let s understand when, and how, hair fall occurs. Losing 50-100 strands of hair in a day is normal, this is because the body knows when to lose the weak hair so that new & strong hair can grow. It s the body s natural way of maintaining your hair volume but when your hair fall increases to over 100 strands per day then that s the time you need to do something. In this blog I will be telling you 5 reasons why hair fall usually occurs, and how you can stop it. And if you think I m joking Here’s what happened to the last few people who followed my advice.. Ok.. reason #1: Poor blood circulation: Your hair follicles require good blood circulation for growth because the blood carries essential nutrients and vitamins that help in building hair, and maintaining its health. So, even if you are consuming a nutritious diet, your hair follicles will not get the nutrients. This would then impact your hair health and it would eventually fall off. So how do you improve blood circulation? Well there are two things that you can do depending on how long you have been noticing hair fall. The 1st method is pretty common – You can massage your scalp gently with an oil, probably 2-3 times a week and this will help increase the flow of blood to your scalp. Do not massage your scalp aggressively as this may damage the hair follicle and further increase your hair fall. However, if you have dandruff choose an oil that works with dandruff such as Camphor Oil, Neem Oil, & Bergamot Oil. If you ve recently started to notice hair fall then massaging your scalp is a good technique to improve blood circulation. The 2nd method is through the use of hair serums – that contain Redensyl or Minoxidil. Both these serums work on improving the blood circulation on your scalp, however of the two, Minoxidil is the more effective one as the results can be observed in a shorter period of time. Minoxidil is a vasodilator, which means it opens blood vessels to deliver more blood to the applied area and hence increases blood circulation. Reason #2: This is the core of all hair issues – Your diet.. There s a saying You are what you eat and that makes perfect sense here because the kind of food that you consume reflects on your skin and hair. Hair fall, hair greying, hair breakage, & scalp health are all an indirect reflection of the food we consume. Like I mentioned earlier, your hair follicles require the nutrients to maintain their health and grow new hair. Even if your blood circulation to your scalp is good, your hair will start to fall because it s not getting the nutrients it needs. It s like a job interview.. Your hair is asking for a good compensation and all it gets offered is peanuts.. You may be thinking.. Oh but mein toh sirf ghar ka khana khata hu .. Well it s not about the place of preparation but what goes into it. For example – does your meals have all the essential nutrients and vitamins that your hair requires? Do a check and let me know in the comments below. So how do you improve your diet? Yeh thodi karna hai ! Well here are a few things that you should include in your diet and a few that you shouldn t. Foods that should be part of your diet are – Fruits & Vegetables, Nuts & Dry fruits, Seeds, Millets & Flours, Chicken, Fish & Eggs, olive oil & desi ghee. The ones that you should completely avoid are: Not mix two grains in the same meal, eg. – Rice & roti. Have only one of them at a time. Avoid sweets, packaged food, fried food, red meat, infact even fruit juices. It s better to have them as a fruit where you will benefit more from it. For an entire list of do s and don t you can refer to the link in the description. Reason #3 DHT or dihydrotestosterone is formed by the conversion of testosterone in the body. This is one of the most common factors affecting genetic hair loss. DHT by itself is a good hormone, I mean that s what made me a man.. But excessive DHT interferes with the hair follicles causing it to shrink while shortening the hair growth cycle. Infact – DHT also has a role in your genes. If any of your parents, grandparents or great grandparents faced hair fall due to excessive DHT, then the genetic coding in you that s responsible for the production of testosterone would likely do the same. That is why most people with pattern hair loss would have a family history of hair loss too. So how do you manage DHT for your hair? Well the answer is simple – You can control DHT levels by introducing certain foods into your diet. The most effective are pumpkin seeds – that are natural DHT blockers which are rich in iron, zinc, magnesium, and antioxidants. Green Tea, Soy beans, Fenugreek & Turmeric have also shown positive results in blocking DHT. Reason #4 Dandruff. Yes, those flaky things are responsible for hair fall. Infact if you have dandruff that s the first sign of poor scalp health. Dandruff is nothing but dead skin cells that the body sheds.. When the shedding starts to increase due to various triggers that s when it forms Dandruff. It can be triggered because of any of these 3 reasons. 1st – You have a dry scalp, and as your skin starts to shed it form flakes. A dry scalp can get further aggravated during dry weather or if your scalp has been dry for a long time. 2nd – It s because your scalp is sensitive to Malassezia. Malassezia is a natural fungus that resides on the scalp and it feeds on the natural oil produced on your scalp leaving behind oleic acid. If your scalp is sensitive to oleic acid, the body starts to react by increasing the rate at which new skin cells are formed. This causes an accumulation of dead skin cells that form dandruff flakes. Infact 50% of the people are sensitive to oleic acid. 3rd – If your dandruff looks something like this . You have Seborrheic dermatitis – which is a medical condition that not only affects the scalp but also other areas of the body where oil glands are present. Now you must be wondering, how do I get rid of dandruff permanently? Well.. you re asking the wrong question you can t stop dandruff permanently, but you can manage it from time to time. If you have a dry scalp, make sure you oil your scalp often. Infact reduce washing your hair with a shampoo too many times, because these shampoos will remove all the natural oils on your scalp and will leave your scalp dry. Another effective way if you have flaky dandruff is to use an anti-dandruff shampoo for not more than 1 – 2 times a week. When I say anti – dandruff shampoo I don t mean this one..I meant the ones that have Ketaconozole. And more importantly, this is from a preventive side.. Reason #5 Lifestyle. Most health concerns get aggravated when you have an improper lifestyle Yeh daaru – sutta wala scene also affects your hair.. (pause & show snoop-dog meme). When your lifestyle habits are not balanced it puts your body through stress. Lack of sleep for example can also cause hair fall. Not getting enough sleep reduces the amount of melatonin leading to hair fall. So what do you do if you have a lifestyle that s unhealthy? Well here are a few changes you could begin with – 1. Get atleast 8 hours of sleep 2. Cut down on smoking and eventually stop it. 3. Reduce drinking and don t over drink 4. Move towards a healthier diet from junk food. 5. Destress daily by exercising or meditating Well.. there you go. I hope you find these 5 reasons useful to stop hair fall. Hair fall is more complex than you think it is, it has many reasons and without knowing the reason.. No matter what you do.. You won t be able to stop it. So understand the reason behind your hair fall. Take care.. And see you next time.
